MEGADETH's Cancer-Stricken Frontman DAVE MUSTAINE: 'I Wish I Could Relive The Years I Lost On The Road'
September 5, 2019Dave Mustaine says that he wishes he could "relive" the years he "lost on the road."
The MEGADETH leader got reflective in a social media post earlier today, more than two months after he announced he was battling throat cancer.
Mustaine shared a touching photo of him holding his son when Justis was just a few years old, along with the following caption: "I wish I could relive the years I lost on the road. Also, those long goodbyes."
The 57-year-old MEGADETH leader announced his cancer diagnosis on June 17 on social media. He said that he has already begun treatment as part of a plan that his doctors feel has a "90% success rate."
Although most of MEGADETH's previously announced 2019 tour dates have been canceled as Mustaine undergoes treatment, the MEGADETH-curated Megacruise — which is set to take place October 13-19 — will still depart as scheduled, and the band will be a part of it in some form.
Mustaine married Pamela Anne Casselberry in 1991. They have one son, Justis, born in 1992, and a daughter, Electra, born in 1998. The family has lived in Arizona and Fallbrook, California and currently resides just outside Nashville, Tennessee.
Mustaine and bassist David Ellefson are the two remaining original members of MEGADETH, which was formed in 1983, following Mustaine's dismissal from METALLICA.
